December 3 Quick Write:
Inquiry unit writing is a daunting task when you look at the size and variety of possible objectives to cover. There's certainly a feeling of being overwhelmed, especially when all the new technology is thrown into the mix. I'm glad there's enough time between gatherings to let the information sink in. I can't help but wonder if this isn't how students feel when unfamiliar material...I think the unit will be very exciting when a clearer idea comes in to shape...
Next Meeting Date: Thursday, January 17th, 9:15 am
January 17th Quick Write:
The plan is to come up with lesson plans for the unit by February 29th on the word lesson plan format. This should work really well, I think. The whole unit plan took a long time to develop, but I think this is going to really work well for any teacher who works with it.
Our next meeting is Tues. Mar. 4th at 9:15 am
March 4 Quick Write:
Inquiry Learning : This isn't a new concept to me...I like the idea of kids finding the questions as well as the answers. It certainly broadens learning and creates the challenge that higher thinkers certainly crave
Technology: I'm loving all the new learning in this area, but I only wish I had play time to become better with it. That's my personal challenge... but I find it easier when I incorporate it into my instruction, so that I have to learn enough to assist students to learn.
Unit Writing: It's never been my forte, but sitting down with a diverse group of instructors has been very good for me...I like to play devil's advocate and it's good for it to happen to me when we're coming up with ideas and plans.
Thanks for everything!
NOTE: Deadline for going over unit draft and making changes/additions is Mar.20th
